As a working one-legged actor, as well as the mother of a college student, I try to take every opportunity to let people know I exist! I hope this will help to do that. Also, most of what I do lately is on the east coast, and I would like to do more on the west coast if the opportunity arises. As an activist for performers with disabilities, I appreciate this website and hope it continues to raise the visibility of professional, trained, experienced actors who are also amputees.

An inspirational speaker with a national reputation, I bring a timely, motivational message, to diverse audiences, about the one constant - change - and the tools essential for navigating the extraordinary journey called life.  I have over 24 years of speaking experience for a number of organizations, including the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.

In 2003, I was diagnosed with malignant fibrous histiocytoma (soft tissue sarcoma) that resulted in left trans-radial amputation in June of that year.

I donate 100% of all speaking fees to the Hourglass Fund at Minnesota Medical Foundation providing general research support to the Masonic Cancer Center University of Minnesota with a particular interest in fostering collaboration between cancer research and the Center for Spirituality & Healing, also at the UofM.  You get me - and a tax deduction!

From Japan. Right above knee amputee from cancer. Modeling in Tokyo.

Eyes: Black, Hair: Black, Height: 5'5"

She has become a fashion icon in Tokyo Japan including being seen in music videos.

I'm Ian, double leg amputee from Scotland.

I'm a published author and specialist stunt man having just appeared in 'blood in the water' a discovery channel docudrama about the U.S.S. Indianapolis. I have also appeared on tv's "men in white" here in the UK.

Have modeled, danced and acted, but not for many years. I'd like to work as an actress, but am not interested in "background," or extra work. I'd like to see amputees becoming more visible in roles which don't portray them as victims--fully developed characters who just happen to be amputees (obviously that would be a part of the character development).

As an aside, I'd also love to do radio, but my reason for being here is to try to drive a strong, positive influence in which we, as amputees, are seen as a whole... not a sum of our "missing parts."

I have two looks because I am a triple amputee. In my most usable legs, since I have had them for several years, I am extremely mobile but only 5' tall. I recently took advantage of the new technology and have regained my old height of 5'10", I have two computerized knees and feet. Although, I am 5'10" in these legs I use a walking stick for better stability but I can walk about a mile in these legs but I do have trouble going down hills. I will get better over the next year, for sure. I also have a hook on my left arm which was severed just below the elbow. I am a UNIQUE ACTOR. - Robert.

I have only had a small part in a University of Michigan Health System commercial and was just recently on a segment of a PBS program, A Wider World, where people with limb loss were introduced to scuba diving and kayaking.

I am a left knee disarticulated amputee considered at K4 activity level.

Tatjana is a right above the knee amputee with modeling experience. She has modeled the Otto Bock C-leg for publication. Been part of a TV reality show is now looking for modeling roles.

I am a Combat Wounded Navy Corpsman. I am currently in the process of being Medically Retired from the US Navy due to my Combat related injuries I sustained while serving as the "Doc" with a US Marine Corps Infantry Unit in Ar Ramadi, Iraq in 2005-2006. I am not your ordinary Combat Wounded Service Member. I am more out going and have accepted my injuries as a blessing and a challenge, as cliché as that sounds. Since I have lost my left leg I have done just about everything under the sun to include: 10 World Marathons, California Coastal Bike Ride, went skydiving, team triathlons, and am currently competing for a spot on the US Paralympic Volleyball Team. After my contract ended I re-enlisted and became a Medical Supervisor for Marine Combat Training Battalion at the School Of Infantry for 2 years. - Below the knee - "Doc" Daniel

My name is Nadja, I am a police officer in Puerto Rico.  When I was 22, I lost my left leg (below the knee) on duty... I've never been acting before, but, I think its never late to do what we want...

I am right, below knee amputee and burn survivor. I've never done much acting but, since I'm living in Hollywood, I'd love the opportunity to be in the background or play a small role. At 24 years old, 6'5 and 180 lbs, I fit a very unique description, especially when you consider that 65% percent of my body was burned to third degree.  I live my life everyday exhibiting the fact that you can survive trauma and come out on the other side but only if you really dig deeply into your pain. I would be enthralled to share some small part of the life of a survivor and amputee in the media whether it's a depiction of someone questioning their lot or just living their live as anyone else. - Robert

As a recent BKA (August, '09), I have pushed through this the best I can.  I was hit by a car, as I pushed a co-worker out of the way, while @ work in NYC.  I used to be a tractor trailer driver and a part-time bouncer.

Now working on a "new leg", I am looking for something part-time or otherwise to keep myself busy AND to help others with similar situations.  I would also like to convey to the "normal" people that "us" amputees are just the same as them.

I have always and still do have the greatest desire to help others.  Might have told me within the past year that I am inspirational and that I should get out there and continue helping other.  I have also been told that I have the "voice over" type of voice...  I thought I would give this site a try.  I have nothing to lose and everything to gain at this point.

I am a left, bk. I am currently in school and working at a movie theater because film is my life. My dream is to become a successful actress and use my life experiences to help others. Recently I got accepted to AMDA in California but could not afford to go.

Amputees in Hollywood is a strong voice for those of us who are missing limbs and are able to put a real face on perceived disabilities. For me, acting comes naturally, which would present unique opportunities for movies and television. Those of us who put ourselves out there everyday have a certain brand of courage. It is a willingness to be afraid and act anyway. I am a friend, daughter, aunt, mom, role model. I am great with animals. I am someone you know and trust with an infectious laugh. I would love to see films made that include those of us that not only survive but thrive given some of life's challenges. Being part of that would be fabulous!

My name is Tara and I was born without my left hand. When I was younger I was very involved in dancing and performing arts. I also love music, singing and recently I have gotten a guitar pick device made so I can learn to play guitar.

In the last few years, I have come out so much and have a new found confidence in myself as an amputee. I have a new awareness of the beauty and individuality that this gives me as a person. I would love the chance to showcase this new confidence and my pride in my body. I am interested in pursuing modeling and/or acting.

I'm in my music career and I would love to be a part of this.

Michelle has worn a prosthetic leg and battled through a significant physical disability to find success as an athlete, a model, and now a singer / songwriter.

As much as her prosthesis is a part of her everyday life, it's something she doesn't allow herself to dwell on. “My leg has made me a very strong person. I've gone through a lot of hard times, but a lot of good times. They've allowed me to grow and kept me grounded while giving me a different attitude in life.”

Jeff -double bk amputee lost both my feet at the age of 12 and never let it hold me back, it has afforded me the opportunity to do thing that I would have never dreamed of as in racing moto-x speaking to people about the loss of limbs testing new prostheses and the list goes on and on. Now I find that there is a need of people with disability in films so I hope to write a new chapter in the book of my life.

I am currently a full time student. I am looking forward to a internship with Nike which I will be applying for this fall semester. I am very active and athletic.

I am currently involved in some writing projects & running my foundation.  I would really really like to get involved with writing and/or modeling of some kind. I would really enjoy being a part of creating a better understanding of amputee's in general as well as showing a positive view of how life goes on and just how powerful that can be.

I am an above the elbow amputee. I was in a serious car accident when I just about 7 years old.   My right arm was paralyzed due to the crash.  When I was 22 the circulation was so poor they said it would be best to remove it above the elbow. That was hard seeing how I could look at, put my arm in a sleeve of a shirt, sweater.  It was the best choice, and I have never looked back.

My goal is to help make life a bit easier by sharing information and helping our population find short cuts, and not take years to find out ” How to tie your shoes”.

I'm a left below the knee female amputee. I was in a very bad car accident. I'm a professional golfer that is interested in doing sports modeling in the golf industry. I would also like to be involved in the film industry as well. Although I don't have any acting experience other than just life, which is a full time job; my family, friends, and acquaintances have influenced me to put my face out there. I've never had any aspirations of being in the industry however; if I can influence someone else's life. I know in my heart it's the right thing to do I've learned over the years it not just about me.

My name is Ella I am a below the knee amputee, also missing half of most my fingers and toes. I am a young, out going person and I love to have fun! Also love to play sport, and love to keep fit! I am a bit of a drama queen and I believe that I would be pretty good at acting. Modeling would also be I thing I would like to do also, because I love fashion and shopping! I have not had many acting or modeling experience but I would love to! I have been thinking about a dream I have to show people and the world that you don't have to be perfect to become famous. Many people think that models and actors are perfect and you have to be a perfect person to be one. I believed that up to one point in my life, but now I have a mission to show the world you don't have to be perfect to become a model or an actor, I wont to show them that if you have a talent and you believe in your dreams that they will come true, and you don't have to be perfect!

I have always been told that I should model but I always felt hesitant because I am a congenital amputee below elbow.  I am 22 years old born and raised in Las Vegas, NV.  I'm glad to have found this site and what it is all about.  I do hope that society will notice amputees as part of everyday life and through this we are able to have more opportunities in the modeling/acting world.
