As a working one-legged actor, as well as the mother of a college student, I try to take every opportunity to let people know I exist! I hope this will help to do that. Also, most of what I do lately is on the east coast, and I would like to do more on the west coast if the opportunity arises. As an activist for performers with disabilities, I appreciate this website and hope it continues to raise the visibility of professional, trained, experienced actors who are also amputees.

I've had a good amount of training (Northeastern University, Eugene O'Neill Theater's National Theater Institute, two years in Burbank, CA with film coach John Lehne at the Victory Theater, The British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England).  I've done a number of theatrical productions and a year an a half ago had the lead role in an award winning independent film called "Inclusions", shot in and around New London, CT. I'm currently working on an independent feature film in Providence, RI, called "Providence Center for Immortality" in which I've been cast in the lead role as a doctor.  I'm a 42-year-old first grade teacher in New London, CT with three young children of my own and would welcome leaving the teaching profession if I can figure out how to market myself properly and obtain enough work as an actor to raise a family.

Have modeled, danced and acted, but not for many years. I'd like to work as an actress, but am not interested in "background," or extra work. I'd like to see amputees becoming more visible in roles which don't portray them as victims--fully developed characters who just happen to be amputees (obviously that would be a part of the character development).

As an aside, I'd also love to do radio, but my reason for being here is to try to drive a strong, positive influence in which we, as amputees, are seen as a whole... not a sum of our "missing parts."

I would like to be part of "Amputees In Hollywood" because I think everyone should be aware of what we go through on a daily basis.  Not saying that my life is tough, but roles and portrayals should be accurately shown.  I recently read for a part in a film being shot here in Pittsburgh and the casting agency said I have a "knack" for the business, so I figured, why not!

Above the elbow
Matt
I am a above elbow amputee since Nov. 2006.  I've been interested in filmmaking since I was 15.  My ambition has been to write and direct but since I lost my arm I have become aware of the unique opportunity I now have to get in-front of the camera.  I am still very passionate about filmmaking and if my loss can help me further my pursuit of a career in this industry than I am all for it.

Remain enlisted in the USMC, however I became a double above the knee amputee resulting from combat injuries in Afghanistan.  I remain active, athletic and motivated.  I am hoping to expand my career options to other areas beyond military enlistment. Compete in Paralympics events when the logistics fit in with my schedule.  I use several prosthetic devices whose function is determined by my activities.

I have been performing on stage since I can remember. I was with a performing arts group for 11 years called The youth singers of Calgary. I was always Acting/Singing in school productions. Also I have done fashions shows for different charity events. I currently work in Radio Broadcasting as a DJ in my home town of Calgary Alberta, Canada. I have been on the air for 10 years. I do a lot of voice work for my job as well.

I am looking to move into the field of acting and voicing and being an amputee This seems like the perfect place to start.

II have been an above the knee amputee since 2005 as a result of a motorcycle accident. I am a 23 years old student pursuing a career as an O&P professional and an actress/model. I am just as normal as other women in fact most people don’t notice I am an amputee until I show them my titanium leg. As a child I always wanted to be an actress/ model so now as an adult I am trying to fulfill my own desires.

I love what Amputees in Hollywood is doing to assist amputees in this already competitive industry. I know that the way I am now is not the way I was born, and just like the other individuals here that are striving to live his or her own dream I refuse to allow my disability to interfere with my own.  1/3/10

I play Dept. Morris in the new movie Pirahna 3-D. The movie is due to be released in April 2010. I would like to find every opportunity I can to act.  1/3/10

I am 18 years old and I am an above-the-knee amputee. I lost my right leg when I was 10 due to cancer. I have no experience in acting but I would love to try this form of art.

I want to be a part of Amputees in Hollywood because I would love to try something challenging.  1/3/10

I did some parodies on my cosplay account for youtube. I worked on a short film about 2 female boxers that dealt with a bit of the usual corruption in boxing. I acted as a trainer but it wasn't a film that was put on a website, it was a student project. Other than that I am a cosplayer, that knows martial arts, sings and dances.

I am looking for any chance I can get for someone to say: "ok, lets see what you can do." Most of the time I get that chance to just let it flow, most people are surprised. I usually get limited to one of my talents and I feel that is where I miss out...a lot.

I am currently involved in some writing projects & running my foundation. I would really really like to get involved with writing and/or modeling of some kind. I would really enjoy being a part of creating a better understanding of amputee's in general as well as showing a positive view of how life goes on and just how powerful that can be. 1/3/10

I just finished shooting a wake board video for Extreme Mobility. I aspire to do similar work in action print and possibly film. I would like the chance to work as a model for action sports and other print work involving prosthetics. I would also be interested in acting roles regarding prosthetics. 1/3/10

I have worked in customer service in the finance world. When I was a kid, I thought of becoming a model. I'm just a "plain Jane" who has lost her left arm up to the shoulder in a car accident nine years ago.

I would like to make a difference in the fashion world. I would like to see models that are not perfect. Maybe people would not stare if they were to see more of "us" I could always use the resources.

Unfortunetly, I have no prior projects. But, I'm looking forward participating and excelling, in opportunities that may arise.

I lost my leg while serving in Iraq in late 2006, at the age of 19. I have wanted to pursue a careeer in film for quite some time. I have learned to turn
this stumbling block into a stepping stone and keep myself in great physical condition. I feel that I am still able to contribute and add realism to any role
as an amputee.

I am a bi-lateral upper amputee. I am 30 years old. I would love to have a chance to help with a amputee
role. I have amazed others by not quitting and continue on like normal. I have been on CNN with my bionic hands.

Since I lost my hands and can realize I can continue I thought what other way to show people what I can do and I found out about this site.  1/7/10

I have done public speaking about my amputation at various conferences and in front of doctor groups. I was also featured on Rebuilt: The Human Body Shop on the Discovery Health Channel.

I would like to be a positive role model within the amputee community. I am tired of amputees being portrayed as the "bad guy" or the pirate.

I would also like to be a role model for my young son. I want to show him that anything is possible, regardless of a physical disability.
